"ELIZABETH (VER. 1)"

It me! :•)

Elizabeth is me. My, uh, "fursona" if you will, though that term I feel becomes less and less relevant as time goes on - I feel "creature" is a more apt title. More so my online persona and a reflection of how I feel people see me (or maybe more how I'd like people to see me). If anything, she is this website's posterchild at least.

I more easily referred to myself as a scalie back in the day I suppose, but I don't really run in those circles and I never really did. But I truly loved Cate Wurtz's work back in the day (as I do now). She was the first "furry" comic artist I really followed; her work inspired mine... and by that I tried to draw like her in the margins of many high school notebooks when I was working through my newly budding queerness. Long story short, I loved Lamezine but could never draw Ynce Iche quite right, so I drew what I could: a pale imitation of Cate's "fursona" on her website. I'd actually forgotten how much I'd punk'd her work until I went on the Wayback Machine and saw I accidentally copied her tail wholesale. Whoops. Changed that to hearts real quick, which is more fitting.

Elizabeth wasn't always named that. I never gave her a name until very recently as it was too early for it for so long. Even after I started doodling her in the margins of my blog posts, I didn't know what to name her until a nickname blossomed into a given name a couple months ago. I figured I'd need to make a first pass on her design to give her due deference. Her old notebook design was ragged-edged and messy for so long, but once I'd changed in my personal life, she did too - her face and her soul became more rounded, more clear to me. She's always been a little awkward and stiff; so have I. So, together we walk, overlapping comfort in thought and movement.
