"RAMONE"

Rowdy boy. Skater boy who gets in trouble. Grungy kid with parental issues. Shit kid that everyone can't help but love. Guy with a smile always on his face and at least one skinned knee.

I did a weird thing to come up with some character concepts recently. It was a method I never tried, but considering I'd start doing it while completely high, I thought it was a uniquely genius way to brainstorm (and I come bearing the knowledge of retrospect to say that it was surprisingly effective despite being blasted). The method involved relaxing my eyes and staring at the popcorn ceiling of the apartment in the dim lamplight while transcribing shapes and faces into quick notes on my phone. The next morning I'd parse those finger-drawn notes into sketches, then into full illustrations. The goal was to practice my ability to draw from nothing.

I have a confession with this one: I think I accidentally did an anthropomorphization of my cat Crumbs. He's a funny guy, real funny, real rambunctious. I also think if there's a God, he bestowed Crumbs upon me with some twisted sense of humour, or maybe as a learning experience about parenting fit for a ninety-minute comedy movie from the 00's. In that theoretical movie he would probably be able to talk in perfect English and crack jokes that everyone would laugh at; instead, in the real world, he just meows at me with a phlemy "wa-kow!" I love him nonetheless, no matter how many times he wakes me up at five-in-the-morning to play with string. So, imagine this design in a movie that went straight to DVD if so desired.
